چکیده
Abstract. Authigenic epidote supergroups are an abundant accessory mineral in the calcium–aluminum silicate and thermometamorphic hydrothermal zones of Campi Flegrei (Phlegraean Fields) geothermal field located west Naples, Italy. Geothermal exploration for high-enthalpy fluid produced drill core cuttings to ∼ 3 km depth Mofete (MF1, MF2, MF5) San Vito (SV1, SV3) wells, where measured down-hole temperatures epidote-bearing samples range from 270–350 ∘C 285–390 areas, respectively. Two group (epidote, clinozoisite), some rare earth element (REE)-bearing, two allanite (allanite-(Ce), ferriallanite-(Ce)) minerals were identified by electron microprobe. The is light (LREE, La–Gd) enriched, Ce dominant, with REE + Y that varies 30.59 wt %–14.32 %. Complex compositional variation such as oscillatory, sector, complex (mixed) zoning a ubiquitous feature observed group, which occurs veins, vugs, various size masses, isolated single crystals. Compositional caused variable Fe ↔ Al3+ substitution XFe [(Fe3+) / (Fe3++ Al)] ranges 0.06–0.33 (Fe3+=0.185–0.967 apfu). tends decrease increasing temperature but its distribution more records recent fault displacement. variety complexity supergroup suggest rapid composition and/or intensive parameter fluctuations local system.

Operational eruption forecasting at high-risk volcanoes: the case of Campi Flegrei, Naples
High risk volcanic events are commonly preceded by long periods of unrest during which scientists are asked to provide near real-time forecasts. The rarity of such events, inaccessibility of the underground volcanic system, non-linear behaviors, and limited datasets constitute major sources of uncertainty. In order to provide reasoned guidance in the face of uncertainties, monitoring observatio...
متن کاملGeochemistry of Melt Inclusions from the Fondo Riccio and Minopoli 1 Eruptions at Campi Flegrei (Italy)
Campi Flegrei is a large volcanic complex located west of the city of Naples, Italy. The area has been the site of volcanic activity for more than 60 ka and represents a potential volcanic hazard owing to the large local population. In this study, the geochemistry of the magma associated with two different eruptions at Campi Flegrei has been characterized, with the aim to identify geochemical t...
متن کاملProgressive approach to eruption at Campi Flegrei caldera in southern Italy
Unrest at large calderas rarely ends in eruption, encouraging vulnerable communities to perceive emergency warnings of volcanic activity as false alarms. A classic example is the Campi Flegrei caldera in southern Italy, where three episodes of major uplift since 1950 have raised its central district by about 3 m without an eruption. Individual episodes have conventionally been treated as indepe...
متن کاملMagma transfer at Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy) before the 1538 AD eruption
Calderas are collapse structures related to the emptying of magmatic reservoirs, often associated with large eruptions from long-lived magmatic systems. Understanding how magma is transferred from a magma reservoir to the surface before eruptions is a major challenge. Here we exploit the historical, archaeological and geological record of Campi Flegrei caldera to estimate the surface deformatio...
متن کاملHazard assessment during caldera unrest at the Campi Flegrei, Italy: a contribution from gravity–height gradients
Hazard assessment and risk mitigation at restless calderas is only possible with adequate geophysical monitoring. We show here how detailed long-term microgravity and deformation surveys may contribute to hazard assessment at the Campi Flegrei caldera (CFc) in Italy by evaluating gravity–height change (∆g/∆h) gradients obtained during ground inflation and deflation between 1981 and 2001. Such g...
